Patient Services

You will find a list of our services below with a brief description of each service. It is very important to seek professional advice before deciding on which treatment option you will proceed with.

Sometimes there will be only one option but, in many cases, there may be a variety of options to choose from. For this reason we offer our patients a complimentary consultation to discuss your treatment options and allow you to make an informed choice before proceeding.

Whatever treatment you decide on, our state of the art dentures will help restore the natural movements of the jaw and provide better phonetics. In addition, they must be compatible with the sensitive tissues in the mouth.

Dentures should be comfortable to wear, so that they are taken for granted during eating and speaking. Most importantly, the correct denture will restore a carefree smile to your face.

Can’t get to us?  We come to you!

We provide homebound patients high quality, compassionate denture treatment.
Let us ease the burden placed on families and carers.

We are happy to attend your home, retirement village or rest home.

Relines restore the fitting surface of your old dentures and adapt them more closely to your gums in the same fashion as a new denture would.

This can help reduce movement and improve suction as well as fill in areas that trap food particles.

A full denture is a removable appliance replacing all of the natural teeth and the associated tissues and is supported by the gums.

Full dentures can also be retained by implants for better stability and function. We strive to provide the highest quality dentures in the North Shore.

If you have had or need to have a tooth extracted it is usually possible to add the tooth to your existing denture.

A replacement clasp can also be added if necessary.

This procedure may be performed either before or after the extraction occurs.

Most broken dentures can be repaired and restored to their previous condition.

Repairs are usually completed on the same day with the occasional exception.

Your dental prosthetist will assess the damage and advise you of treatment time and costs prior to carrying out the repair.

A partial denture is a removable appliance replacing one or more missing natural teeth and associated tissues.
It is supported by the natural remaining teeth and gums.

It replaces what is lost and preserves what is left.

Custom mouthguards are made to fit the teeth and gums closely and therefore offer greater comfort and protection than pre-fabricated mouthguards.

They not only help minimise dental injury but can also reduce the severity of concussion whilst playing contact sports.

Laboratory Services Digital & Analog

Stephen McGlynn Dental Laboratory, located within Hornsby Denture Clinic, provides all services for fixed and removable resin based prosthetics combining both analog and digital processes.

Desktop scanners and intra oral scanners using 3shape technology are used for denture design and manufacture. All intra oral scans can be accessed in STL format no matter what scanner is used.

Digital models are printed using the Asiga Max 3D digital printer.

Processing is performed using the Ivobase processing system from Ivoclar Vivadent. Ivobase is a closed flask injection processing system that offers the user a variety of denture base materials including the tried and long proven high impact Ivocap material.

The choice of materials allows us to process at low heat which is ideal when processing implant cases with large metal structures. Normally the internal temperature of a flask heats the metal well in excess of 100 degrees, which is the ideal maximum temperature for processing heat cure acrylics. With Ivobase high impact implant acrylic the temperature only reaches 65 degrees, therefore minimising stress in the cured resin. With the option of reducing residual monomer to less than 1% there is no better acrylic on the market for these types of restorations.

At HDC we offer a wide range of prosthetic services from conventional dentures to implant prosthetics. Local providers are used to supply our milled bars for fixed and removable prosthetics. Implant components can be sought through a provider of your choice or if desired, sourced by the laboratory. We are capable of managing all implant case types from simple locator overdentures to complex fixed/removable cases.

All dentures, conventional or implant borne, are produced by injection processing in Ivocap using the Ivobase system. Stratos adjustable articulators are used that enable templated setups ensuring a consistent compensating and wilson curve. Model analysis and average values are measured against individual records to determine a predictable functional and aesthetic result.

The laboratory has a wealth of experience and knowledge on staff to handle your requirements. We welcome clients to the lab to meet the staff and have a tour of the production facility which we are always proud to show off.

IvoBase System

IvoBase Injector permits a fully automated, controlled injection and polymerization procedure of special PMMA resins which are coordinated with the system. The chemical shrinkage of the resin is entirely compensated during polymerization thanks to the patented temperature control in the flask and the heater.

This enables the fabrication of denture bases featuring high accuracy of fit and precision. The injector has been especially developed for the IvoBase material and permits excellent restorations. The IvoBase Injector can also be used for the tried-and-tested SR Ivocap material.
